I have to expect goals tonight ........

...... when free scoring Gretna travel to Airdrie United, in the Challenge Cup.

New signing , striker Colin McMenamin, scored twice for Gretna on Saturday, which ensures that whoever starts up front, will be playing for a regular starting place.

The "Black and Whites" have had an amazing two seasons, two promotions and a Scottish Cup final appearance, all this coming in just 4 seasons of league football ! Five years ago they were playing non league football, now they are in Division 1 and the UEFA Cup. It is a true Cinderella story and shows little sign of being over yet.

They have lost just 6 of their last 76 league games, but it is the number of goals that are truly astounding. These 76 matches, have produced a total of 302, at an average of 3.97 per game. They ended 04/05 with a goal difference of +101 and last season +67.

This season they already boast two wins, 2-1 away to Clyde and 6-0 at home to Hamilton, a match in which they registered 31 (count them) attempts at goal. The Accies website stated that they were lucky to only lose by six !

Watching tonight's hosts also provides entertainment, only relegated Brechin's fixtures produced more Division 1 goals last season. Airdrie's supporters saw 100 goals at an average of 2.78, this has risen to over 3.58 in the last 12 league starts.

Very hard not to see goals flowing again tonight at the Excelsior stadium.

4 points Airdrie-Gretna over 2.75 goals 1.92 asian line.

Good Luck.
