FA CUP NEWS .......

There are no bets in this post, just a little information and some thoughts.

Brentford have looked depleted in training this week, one day only 14 individuals took part and that included someone on trial, a very senior player only helping with the coaching and a couple of goalkeepers. Striker Fola Onibuje has since signed on loan from Swindon, I understand he is incredibly quick, if he knows the general direction of the goal, he must be an improvement.

The Bees have now won just one of their last 19 starts inside 90 minutes ! I seem to recall that they budgeted for winning a first round FA Cup tie in their accounts, this is very unusual and they will be under real pressure to win today.

Where will the shocks come today ? Not really the man to ask, my record in the FA Cup leaves a lot to be desired.

But, as I have not had a bet, these will probably all oblige.

Oxford look big at 4.50 for the M40 derby game at Wycombe, who may have other priorities, United will have massive support cheering them on and will be confident of their chances.

My local team Maidenhead United, travel to play Conference side Stafford Rangers and their confidence belies the 7.0 quote. Couple of divisions between thes two, but it does seem a big price, after a couple of poor seasons United have finally stopped the rot, they would be delighted with a draw and a replay.

Finally, Leyton Orient are desperate for a win and the 2.25 on offer to achieve that against Notts County, looks perfectly acceptable. Given the pressure on the management team, there is no chance of the O's taking things easy and a win will ease the pressure all round.

If you look at the photograph of the FA Cup trophy closely, you will see that they have already put Brentford's colours onto it, must be an omen.

Back after the afternoon matches.

Good luck.
