HSBC Champions Golf ........

Starts very early tomorrow at the Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai.

Having passed on the Tour Championship, Tiger Woods has flown to China to take his place in the field. Guess that HSBC have come up with a very nice package, something that would keep a small country in business for a week or two and Nike are keen to keep the Chinese happy. So much for sport.

I think we can chance a little on Retief Goosen, after a poor year by his own, very high standards, there have been recent signs that his swing changes are finally paying dividends. Even his putter was working well last week, until it turned ice cold on Sunday, he still managed a very nice 4th place.

This was exactly the position he filled last year and then went on to win one of his next two tournaments. Let us hope that history can repeat. Retief obviously likes it in Asia, never having finished outside the top 6 and his record in China is even better, two wins and a second place in three events.

This is a strong field, with Furyk,Harrington, Stenson, Casey, Donald, Howell and Choi also making the trip. However, the bulk of the "runners" are Asian Tour regulars and a bit lower standard than the aforementioned players usually compete against. We can expect one of the "names" to collect the huge winners cheque and at the odds, Goosen is my choice.

2 points each way Retief Goosen 15.0 1/5 odds 12345 general quote blue square/stan james etc.
Similar/better odds are available on the exchanges using the Winner and Top 5 markets.

Good Luck.
