Boss Dave Penney has had a strange start to life at Darlington, winning 6 in a row and then losing 8 straight.
They stopped the "rot" with victory over Peterborough at the weekend and will be looking to build on that tonight, when the visit Gigg Lane, for a meeting with Bury.
Penney has been very active in the transfer window, already making half a dozen signings, including an entire defence and promising plenty more, both arrivals and departures.
There were encouraging signs, in the loss at Division 1 promotion hopefuls, Doncaster Rovers, in the Johnstone's Paint trophy, last midweek. Now that most of the new arrivals have another game and, more importantly, a win, under their belts, the Quakers can press on from here.
Simon Johnson looks likely to partner Julian Joachim, probably the division's most talented player, up front, in what might be the speediest pairing in England. Any defence, at this level, would struggle to contain these two for a full 90 minutes.
Bury have collected only 2 points from a possible 12, both coming against teams in the bottom 3 of the Football League and in poor current form. The Shakers have won just 4 of 12 home starts and seem happier "on the road", they have been forced into making an emergency loan signing, to replace their suspended goalkeeper, Allan Fettis.
Despite sitting side by side in the table, the visitors create far more chances, have hit the woodwork 11 times ( time for some of these to go in) and look the far classier outfit.
Defeat would be a real body blow, for what is now, 100% Penney's team, do not think they will come away empty handed.
