I have taken two bets tonight, Benfica at home to Dinamo Bucharest and Ajax for the trip to Bremen.
Benfica have impressed me this season, they are a team with a lot of style and class. Provided they are fully motivated, the Portugese giants should be too strong for the Romanians, who looked a little below the required level, at White Hart Lane, earlier in the season.
I am not sure how much of a priority the UEFA Cup is for Bremen. Their league form has fallen away and following the 4-1 hammering at Stuttgart, they now trail Schalke by 6 points, at the top of the Bundesliga.
The match with Hamburg at the weekend, has now taken on greater importance and will be given priority, with several players rested and others unavailable for this evening.
Meanwhile, Ajax come in excellent form and with their domestic title hopes rekindled, having closed the gap on PSV to 3 points.
Dutch clubs never need any additional motivation when facing german clubs and Ajax, in particular, have a wonderful record against their near neighbours.
