SERENA WILLIAMS - MARIA SHARAPOVA

Probably the two biggest names in women's tennis clash in Miami today, for the first time since the Australian Open final.

Sharapova was humbled that day and lost 1&2, in a match that was as one sided, as the scoreline sounds. Pretty certain that defeat has left it's scars, the Russian has played just two tournaments since, losing on each occasion the first time, she has met a top 20 ranked player. She did beat Venus Williams in the previous round, turning the match around from a losing position, to beat both sisters in consecutive matches, is a tough ask.

Serena has not played since the Grand Slam event, she completed an easy 3&4 win over Safarova yesterday, which impressed many and afterwards said she had not played well and would get stronger as the tournament progressed. Obviously defeat today has not occured to her.

H2h is 3-2 in Williams favour, with all 3 of her wins coming on outdoor hardcourts, including a straight set win here in 2004. A three time winner of this event, she has won 22 of her last 23 matches here, losing only to her sister.

I feel Williams holds a massive psycological edge over her opponent and that it would take a herculean performance by Sharapova, to turn the tide. There is only one winner for me.

5 points Williams to beat Sharapova 1.769 Pinnacle Sports.
Result won 6-1 6-1 profit + 3.845 pts

Good Luck.
