MONTE CARLO TENNIS ....... GASTON GAUDIO - DMITRY TURSUNOV

I am a little surprised by the odds available here for Gaston Gaudio to defeat Dmitry Tursunov, who openly jokes about his lack of ability on clay.

Gaudio is a former French Open champion and has a wonderful record in Monte Carlo, where he has two semi-final appearances and boasts 15 wins. It has taken Rafael Nadal to defeat him on his last two appearances.

He admits to being his worse enemy and sometimes claims to be playing two players on court, with himself being the tougher to beat. If he does not press the self destruct button, he should be capable of seeing off the Russian, who won only 3 games on his only previous appearance here.

Gaudio's early season form has been dire, but recent outings have offered a little more encouragement and a return to his beloved european clay, should see further improvement.

3.5 points Gaudio to beat Tursunov 1.91 Pinnacle Sports, similar odds should be available on the exchanges nearer the start. won + 3.185 pts

Good Luck.
