LA LIGA .............

REAL BETIS - RECREATIVO

Betis have had the cheque book out recently and completed the signings of Mehmet Aurelio, Achille Emana, Fabian Monzon, Juanma and Nelson , however, Aurelio only received international clearance on Monday and the others only joined up with the squad this week. These will surely need a little longer to gel with their team mates and the hosts are missing Rafael Sobis, Mark Gonzalez, Edu, Jose Mari and David Odonkor , which is going to leave them very short of options upfront.

Recreativo sold Pongolle and Martins, but have spent wisely, especially in the signing of Sebastian Nayar from Boca Juniors, who will add a little steel to the centre of midfield and certainly gives them a very solid look. This game should be very tight and I guess that a draw would not be too disappointing for either team, Betis will certainly improve once they have a full squad to choose from.

5.5 points Recreativo +1/2 1.93 asian line.

Good Luck.

ITALY SERIE A
CHIEVO VERONA- REGGINA

Chievo are back in the top flight after just a single season absence, they were promoted as champions and are determined to consolidate and re-establish themselves as a Serie A side. They were very busy in the off season, adding 12 new names to the squad and convinced captain and top scorer Sergio Pellissier ( 22 goals last season) to put pen to a new contract. This is a clear sign of their intent, as a number of bigger clubs had tabled bids for this key player. They are very motivated to start with a win, especially as their next home game is not until September 24th. Visitors have very limited ambitions for the campaign and would settle for one spot above the relegation zone right now .

6 points Chievo -1/2 ball 2.17 asian line..... NOW 2.0

Good Luck.

TOWN TO BURY COUNTY ....

DIVISION 2

NOTTS COUNTY - SHREWSBURY TOWN

Town have lived up to all the pre season hype / betting support and come flying out of the blocks, with three league wins. This is the division for away wins and they will be more than hopeful facing a toothless County, who have failed to score in 3 of 4 starts and are missing four key players, including their main creative output in Adam Nowland. Hard to see them trobling the visiting defence , which has yet to concede in the league, too much and Town can retain their place at the top of the table, at least for now.

5.5 points Shrewsbury -1/4 ball 2.01 asian line.

Good Luck.

BRUCEY'S BOYS TO TAME TIGERS .....

HULL CITY - WIGAN ATHLETIC

Athletic are very unfortunate to be without a point, after playing well against Chelsea last week and outplaying the Hammers at Upton Park for 75 minutes on the opening day of the season. They are tight at the back, Emile Heskey always makes a nuisance of himself and creates plenty of chances for those alongside and they have several "flair" players. Steve Bruce will have got his troops fired up and his counterpart Phil Brown's only problem will be to calm his hard working team down. They have started incredibly well, but chase so many balls that they will do well to see Christmas out, let alone May ! Wigan are the far clasier outfit and whilst it will not be easy, I am very happy with this quote.

5 points Wigan -1/4 ball 2.30 asian line.

Good Luck.

CHAMPIONSHIP .....

BURNLEY - PLYMOUTH ARGYLE

This is a very long journey for Argyle and after battling to an opening day draw with Wolves, they have not scored in three starts, or, in their last four visits here, all of which they have lost. They are very much a team in transition, having sold most of their best players. Burnley were strong in pre season and must be disappointed by the start they have made, they recorded a confidence boosting win over local rivals Oldham in the Carling Cup on tuesday and striker Martin Paterson, will be looking to carry his cup form, 4 goals in 2 starts, into the league. With just a single point to their name and facing a very tough run of fixtures after today, Burnley simply have to win, big money signing Chris Eagles has to start living up to hype, that has followed him from Old Trafford.

5.5 points Burnley -3/4 ball asian line 2.19 .

Back shortly.

WEST HAM UNITED - BLACKBURN ROVERS

Roque Santa Cruz is that most valuable of assets, a striker that plays better on the road, since arriving at Blackburn almost 70% of all his strikes, have come away from Ewood Park, which can be a souless place at times. He already has a "road" goal this season and with several bigger clubs still eyeing him up, ahead of the transfer deadline, he is sure to be "up" for it today, at Upton park, where he scored last season. Hills are a standount 3.25 on him to score anytime, when the industry average is nearer to 2.60 and if this is available to you, it should be taken. United were dire in the midweek cup tie and were booed off the field at half time.

4 points Roque Santa Cruz to score at anytime 3.25 William Hill.

Good Luck.

DIVISION 2

ROCHDALE - BURY

Despite claiming otherwise, it is hard to say anything other than Rochdale are suffering a playoff hangover from last season, when they went so close to finally climbing out of this division. They are a decent outfit and will get things right sooner or later, but have only scored against struggling Barnet in four starts and even fell behind in that game.

Today they host local rivals Bury, who have a 100% record and have impressed all watchers, including many Burnley fans, who despite winning their cup tie 2-0, felt that their Championship side were lucky to earn the win. They beat Brentford 1-0 on the opening day of the season and the Bees have won twice since, with a 5-0 goal difference. They have had much the better of their neighbours in this fixture in recent years and are unbeaten in six visits, winning four, infact, the last 30 meetings between these two have produced just 3 home wins ! Hosts remain without two key defenders and I have to side with the unchanged visitors, their supporters will make up almost 40% of the crowd and they can make the very short journey home ,happy.

6 points Bury +1/4 ball 2.13 asian line.

Good Luck.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ........

OLYMPIAKOS - ANORTHOSIS FAMAGUSTA

Lightening doesn't strike twice, except it did ! Anorthosis repeated their 3-0 win over Rapid, with an identical scoreline against Olympiakos. The greek side were unfortunate to lose by three and have not given up on the tie yet, they can name a much stronger starting eleven this evening and will take heart from Rapid's performance in the second leg, when the austrians almost turned things around, despite conceding early. The Cypriot side are looking for a place in history as the first team from that nation to make the group stage and they have done incredibly well to come this close, regardless of what happens today. However, they are a very different club on the road and if Olympiakos keep calm, a first half lead will make this very interesting indeed. No doubt the visitors will keep ten men behind the ball and look to pinch a goal on the break. Olympiakos will win this and I see little downside even giving up such a huge handicap and I have to side with them. If/when th e second goal comes, Anor could get very nervous and the host's greater experience will be vital.

6.5 points Olympiakos -2 goals 2.0 asian line.

SLAVIA PRAGUE - FIORENTINA

Clear class difference between these two, but Fiorentina already hold a two goal lead from the first leg, will be without star player Adrian Mutu and have a Serie A opener, against their biggets rivals Juventus, at the weekend. We saw with Barce and Juve yesterday, that the big clubs are happy just to coast in the second leg, especially with domestic openers ahead and I suspect that Fiorentina will adopt a similar attitude and be happy to settle for a draw. Slavia showed little in the first game, but will offer more offensively in front of their own fans and will also be boosted by a fine 5-0 win over rivals Bohemians at the weekend.

6 points Slavia +1/4 ball 1.82 asian line.

ATLETICO MADRID - SCHALKE

Schalke had much the better of the first leg and will be very pleased with the lead and clean sheet that they take to Spain. Having said that, Atletico improved after the break and will be stronger tonight, having two extra weeks training under their belt, they will also have the considerable boost of Sergio Aguero back in the squad, he forms a fantastic partnership with Diego Forlan upfront and they can unlock any defence. I am pleased to see that Maniche has shown a return to form in pre season and he might also be given an outing, his creativity could be key in breaking down, what is sure to be a packed visiting defence. Schalke have problems, Neuer, Jones, Kristajic and Engelaar are all out, Farfan is doubtful. A packed Vicente Calderon is not the easiest place to go and it is time for Atletico to return to the big stage.

6 points Atletico -3/4 ball 2.08 asian line.

Good Luck.

'APPY HARRY TO KEEP SIR ALEX AT BAY ..... AT LEAST FOR 45 MINUTES !

PREMIERSHIP
PORTSMOUTH - MANCHESTER UNITED

I expect a very cautious opening to this game, after conceding so early at Stamford Bridge last week, Pompey will want to keep things tight early doors, to use a football cliche and United will be happy to do likewise. Portsmouth were unbeaten at home to the "Big 4" last season and have a very decent 2-2-2 record against United in their last six matches. Infact, this is their third meeting in just five weeks and the two earlier games and also the cup tie at Old Trafford in March, were all 0-0 at the break.

Sir Alex's side have been level at half time in five of their last six starts and that is what I am going with this evening. A cautious start, both still a little rusty and with each knowing the other's game very well, hopefully a borefest to begin with and some entertainment after the break !

6 points half time draw 2.25 general quote ..... a little higher is avaialble on the exchanges.

Good Luck.

SUNDAY'S EMAIL .....

Having published saturday's email in full, where we made a nominal loss, despite the two strongest wagers winning. I will also reproduce today's, when subscribers made over 34 points profit, from just three selections.

SUNDAY AUGUST 24TH

Three selections today, all strong ..........

GERMANY
BUNDESLIGA
VFL BOCHUM - WOLSBURG

I have to oppose Bochum, they are already coming in for a lot of criticism from fans and the local media, that might seem harsh after just two games, during which they failed to score in 90 minutes against lower league Preuben Munster in the cup and away at Karlsruhe, when the 1-0 scoreline could have been far worse. However, when we also add a dreadful pre season into the equation, things begin to look very bad indeed. They are nine without a win, losing five and have only scored one goal, against Japanese side Yokohama, in 450 minutes play. Even more frightening, were the huge number of clear cut chances Karlsruhe managed to create.

It is hard to see Wolfsburg, fairing less well. The visitors had a fine second half of the season, collecting 34 points after Christmas, at an average of two per game, this took them up to 5th in the Bundesliga and would have earned them second spot, if they could have carried that through the whole season. They opened with a comprehensive win in the cup and followed up with a come from behind victory over Koln, when they dominated and had 17 attempts on goal. Coach Felix Magath has got them believing and expectation is sky high for this season, they will have to do without Grafite today, who is suspended, but this is more than offset, by the unavailability of key player Joel Epalle for the hosts.

6.5 points Wolfsburg -1/4 ball 2.10 asian line. 2-2 draw Wolfsburg had 55% possession and 18 shots on goal !

SPAIN
SUPERCUP
REAL MADRID - VALENCIA

The first leg was won 3-2 by Valencia and it is hard to see tonight's match being any less prolific. Last four meetings between these two have produced 19 goals, all have been "over", with three containing five or more goals. This competition is not taken too seriously and the last 33 matches in the Super Cup, have averaged over 3.21 goals per game. Unsettled Robinho has been included in the home squad, which is missing Sneijder, Saviola, Gago, Cannavaro and Metzelder. I think both teams will be out to entertain and feel that the best way to approach is this taking the "over" 3 goal line.

6.5 points "over" 3 goals 2.28 asian line. Score 4-2

USPGA GOLF
THE BARCLAYS OUTRIGHT
VIJAY SINGH

Vijay Singh cannot putt, if he could, goodness knows how many tournaments he would have won ! As it is, his victory in the recent WGC Bridgestone Invitational, which ended a 17 month winless streak, was his 32nd on the US Tour. That has given him renewed confidence and the hardest working man in golf, is very difficult to beat, when on top of his game. His iron play is fantastic and when the putts drop, like yesterday, it is foolhardy to oppose him. Rookie leader Kevin Streelman (-8), will not have slept too well, with a host of top players, Singh, Casey, Weir and Garcia, all just a stroke back, these four are a further two shots clear of the pack.

Casey, Weir and Garcia have all disappointed at the business end of tournaments recently and I find it impossible not to see Vijay in contention come the closing holes, where it is possible to shoot low here. The Fijian superstar is six under for the last 5 holes, which is better than all his rivals and a whopping fives strokes superior to Garcia, who is favourite in many books.

6 points Vijay Singh outright 5.50 general quote .... a little 5.90 on the exchanges.Singh won by birding two of the closing holes and winning a playoff over Garcia on the 17th

Good Luck.

SATURDAY ...............

I previewed five of today's matches on the email service today and here they are, please remember that they were written last night.

CHAMPIONSHIP

COVENTRY CITY - BRISTOL CITY

Coventry have started the season well and are 100% in League and Cup. They have been creating a lot of chances and in Clinton Morrison and Freddie Eastwood, now have two strikers, who are likely to take any that come their way, both have already scored this campaign and are set to trouble a lot of Championship defences.

Hosts will be very wary of the visitors, who ended a similar strong start to last season for the Sky Blues, when they came here and won 3-0, with a bit of a smash and grab raid. Coventry had 66% possession and 19 attempts on goal, compared to their opponent's ten. That defeat started a dire run for Coventry, when little went right, after today, they face a very tough run of fixtures, with 4 of their next six away from home, against sides who all expect to be involved in the promotion race, so expect a motivated performance, from Chris Coleman's troops.

Bristol face a difficult season after going so close to promotion last time round. They are struggling to find any consistency and last weeks 1-1 draw with a Derby County side, low on confidence, was typical, when, after dominating the first half, they could easily have lost, after playing poorly after the break. A similar lack lustre display will see them come away empty handed today.

5.5 points Coventry -1/4 ball 1.96 asian line.

DIVISION 1
HUDDERSFIELD TOWN - MK DONS

I have to give Town another chance today, they have started with two draws in the league and a 4-0 thumping of neighbours Bradford in the Carling Cup and nowreally need the three points to kick start their charge. I covered them in great detail in the pre season preview, so will not go over old ground here, they have added two strong players to the squad this week, with the permanent signing of Ian Craney, who is a very good "box to box" lower league player and Liam Dickinson, who has joined on a one month loan from Derby County. Dickinson made his name at Stockport last year, where his goals earned them promotion, he has come looking for games and a few goals.

After two disappointing performances to start the season, Dons stepped up with a pleasing showing in the 1-0 home win over local rivals Northampton, but chances have been at a premium so far and this is the type of match Town have to win if they are going to get involved at the business end of this division.

5 points Huddersfield -1/2 ball 2.02 asian line

DIVISION 2
BARNET - BRENTFORD

These two clubs have the same nickname, but let's be sure about one thing, Barnet are the imitation Bees ! Brentford were very impressive in the 4-0 home win over Grimsby last week and really played some good football, against a surprisingly limited visiting side. They have a little competition for places now and in Charlie MacDonald, a striker who could be prolific at this level. The (real) Bees are determined to build on this big win, which came after a promising showing at Championship Swansea in the cup. This is a group of players still getting to know each other and they can only get stronger. They will be cheered by a large travelling support, who are likely to make up 40% of the crowd and will make a lot of noise. Home side have really struggled at the back and conceded ten goals in three starts, I do not see the visitors losing and at level ball, they look a strong bet.

6 points level ball Brentford 1.90 asian line.

LUTON TOWN - NOTTS CO

I have no qualms about taking Luton minus a half ball, given such a massive points deduction, draws have little use to them and they have obviously decided to "go for it ", in every game. They have attacked freely so far, winning twice and creating an awful lot of chances (17) in the third, an opening loss to Port Vale, when they also had something like twelve corners in the first half alone.

Town even managed to rest a couple of players and still defeated championship side Plymouth 2-0 in the Carling Cup, which shows they still retain a little quality and plenty of fight. The fans are still behind them and I expect their points total to be -24 come 5 o'clock this afternoon.

5 points Luton -1/2 ball 1.96 asian line.

SCOTLAND

DIVISION 3
ELGIN CITY - COWDENBEATH

Cowdenbeath have bounced back from a shock ,opening day hammering, from Division 3 new boys Annan, to record consecutive league wins and they could actually go top with a win today. Elgin did get off the mark finally last week , but look a poor side and when these two met here last month in the cup, The Blue Brazil won very comfortably, dominating from the kick off and easing home 2-0. That was probably expected, as they have an incredible record in the fixture, winning on 7 of 9 visits (one draw) here and with 14 wins in 17 meetings home and away, with just a single loss and ten clean sheets ! I am sure that they would be happy playing Elgin every week, the home side will be handicapped by the loss of suspended Ross O'Donoghue and seem to have it all to do, to get anything from this game. This is my strongest bet of the day.

6.5 points Cowdenbeath -1/2 ball 2.20 general quote ..... 2.25 in places.

Good Luck.

ANOTHER FREAKY FRIDAY OFFER !

Oxford, for the second away game running, decided to play the bulk of the match with ten men ! This time, having a player dismissed after just 11 minutes, this is a fairly talented group of players (at this level), who could do with the "hairdryer treatment".

If any of you are interested in joining the email service, I have another friday special, which for the first time ever, includes a freebie, an offer, plus, a guarantee ! Just send me an email via the" contact us" button on the website,www.predictuwin.com here is a quick link and I will get back to you with details.

BLUE SQUARE PREMIERSHIP ......

WREXHAM - OXFORD UNITED

United made something of a nightmare start to the season, reduced to ten men , they lost to a very motivated Barrow side in their opener and then missed enough chances to win four games, at home to Weymouth. They knocked six past Eastbourne at the weekend and they are definitely a team with a lot of goals in them, the defence is a little short of names at present, but that will sort itself out soon and they will climb the table. Tonight will not be easy, but having found the net, it is hard not to see them scoring one or two and boss Darren Patterson is confident that they will be more disciplined at the back, speaking about tonight's game he said:"We believe we will score goals, and that's encouraging when you consider the players we have out through injury. We will go there positive, be a lot more solid as a unit than we were on Saturday, and as a passing fluent side I hope we play like we have done in the last two games."

Oxford have prepared very well for this, after a couple of days off, training has gone well and they had the welsh side watched by three different people.

6 points Oxford +1/2 ball 1.91 asian line..... NOW +1/4 ball

Good Luck.

Blogwise, I am intending to post something later in the day, so please check back.

WEDNESDAY .............

Nigeria coasted home yesterday, as did fellow email selection Argentina. I am firmly back in form with a perfect six from six this week and a 45 point profit since Monday morning !

At the end of an, albeit, mini losing period, is the best time to join the service and I am confident that we will make excellent returns over the coming weeks.

I do not mind talking about losing runs, because they will come, despite what other services might say(!) and to be honest, a 7-10 day losing run, is nothing over the course of a year. There are almost eleven months worth of email archive on the website www.predictuwin.com and we have averaged 1.4 points profit, each and every day over that very long period.

The daily newsletter can cost less than $3 per day and all selections are sent with a full preview and will arrive in your inbox by late morning (uk time). Payment can be made, by any bank or credit card and also Paypal and Moneybookers, you are welcome to email me with any questions, using the "contact us" button on the website, here is a quick link.

Good Luck with your bets today.

MEN'S OLYMPIC FOOTBALL SEMI-FINALS .....

NIGERIA-BELGIUM

OK, apologies to my Belgian subscribers, but there is no way I am opposing Nigeria, who we have been with since the opening round of group games. They have yet to let us down and look very focused and determined to fulfill their undoubted potential. These guys are already superstars in Nigeria and captain Victor Obinna said : "Back home, everybody knows what this team is capable of. After picking up gold in 1996, everyone's waiting anxiously for us to repeat the feat but we still haven't won anything yet."

Belgium have done fantastically well to reach this stage and the Diables Rouges saw off the strongly fancied Italians in the quarters, playing much of the game with ten men. That is a problem, it would doubtless have taken a lot out of them and already without the experienced defender Vincent Kompany, they will now be minus suspended centre back, Thomas Vermaelen. They have a threat upfront in three goal Moussa Dembele , but Nigeria are well aware of him and the only goals the Super Eagles have conceded this tournament , have come very late on, when they already had a two goal lead and the game was won.

They have impressed me greatly and I am confident that they will be in the final by early afternoon.

6.5 points Nigeria -1/4 ball 1.95 asian handicap.

Good Luck.

IT'S HARD TO KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN .....

... and as usual, it is a woman who helps him on his way, or in our/my case, 23 of them !

After a very disappointing couple of days, we have bounced back big time today, with Brazil and Jepkosgei (without Jelima) both winning easily and also, the USA Women (-1 ball 2.23) obliging for subscribers. That completes a fantastic start to the week and before 16.00 on Monday, we are already almost 27 points up on the day!

To be honest, after such an amazing sequence of winners, we were long overdue a few losers and in some ways, I am glad that they have come and hopefully gone. No one can win all the time, that is impossible, but used properly, the newsletter can supply you with consistent long term profits and a useful, additional source of income. Further details can be found on the website .... www.predictuwin.com

Good Luck.

WOMEN'S OLYMPIC FOOTBALL SEMI - FINALS

BRAZIL - GERMANY

I have been firmly with Brazil since the start and am certainly not going to desert them facing a German side that have yet to impress.

The Canarinha look to be peaking at exactly the right time, putting in their best performance of the tournament against Norway, where they had 10-12 goalscoring chances and could have won far more easily. Their coach claims that they have improved with every appearance and is confident that they can be the first side to score against the defensively sound Germans.

It is time for a change in women's football, Brazil felt cheated by losing in the World Cup final last year, a title that they felt was their's for the taking, they are a year stronger and have, imo, the two best players in the world, entering their prime, the Germans look to have regressed, especially offensively, where they have struggled.

6 points Brazil -1/4 ball 2.23 asian line.

Good Luck.

ATHLETICS .............

WOMEN'S 800 METRES

JANETH JEPKOSGEI

The World Champion from Osaka has been forgotten this year, such has been the remarkable talent shown and times put up by 18yo Pamela Jelimo. However, Jepkosgei looks to be peaking and might still trouble her young countrywoman, who has been priced at an incredibly short 1.10 to win the final. In her semi, Jepkosgei looked very comfortable and racing from the front, just pulled out a little more when required and was hardly breathing after the race. It could be that she cannot live with Jelima, but I see her as clearly the best of the rest and think that she is fantastic value without the favourite.

1 point Jepkosgei to win 11.0 Paddy Power.

8 points Jepkosgei 2.625 Victor Chandler, without "Jelima" ..... this is 2.20 with Ladbrokes which is acceptable at a pinch, other companies should quote later in the day. NOW 2.10

Good Luck.

SCOTLAND SPL

DUNDEE UNITED - GLASGOW CELTIC

There are very few things in life that you can truly depend upon, the sun rises in the east and Dundee United never beat Celtic, are two that prove the exception.

This millenium, they have met 29 times, United have four draws to their name and 25 defeats. On home soil, their record is even worse (0-1-11), five times conceding four or more goals.

I can only see that record improving today, the visitors are boosted by the return of playmaker Shunsuke Nakamura and he will help the supply to the front men today. Hosts are without three players and are probably still shell shocked by the bit of a hammering, SPL new boys Hamilton inflicted on them on Monday night, when defensively, they were sloppy.

Rangers put in a vastly improved display yesterday and Celtic will want to close the gap on them, in another battle that will probably still be raging come the spring.

7 points Celtic -3/4 ball asian line 1.80.

Good Luck.

SUNDAY .....

Very frustrating day yesterday, the three blog selections lost, but it could easily have been so much different. After failing 2-0 down early, they dominated play after the break and should really have got a point. Norwich again created 14 chances and dominated play, Lincoln at 1-0 up, had a "good" looking goal disallowed just before half time. Anyway, next time things go our way.

I have sent preiews of four events today, an 8 point stake @2.6+, 6 points @3.60, plus two big asian line 7 point selections. So a huge day.

Good luck with your bets today.

Saturday, August 16, 2008

AFTERNOON ACTION ..............

WEST HAM UNITED - WIGAN ATHLETIC

I think that Steve Bruce has done a great job at Wigan, as you might expect he has got a very sound defence and if Emile Heskey can stay fit, he will have chances created for him by a strong midfield, he will be joined upfront by Amir Zaki, who is an unknown quantity at this level, but has already been scoring, in a decent preseason, when the goals have been flowing. The Hammers continue to have injury problems, Dyer, Bellamy and Gabbidon remain on the sick list, along with several others and Anton Ferdinand is doubtful. The vibes are not good and Curbishley is favourite in the "first manager to be sacked" markets. They have too much quality to be in trouble of course (probably) ,but I do not want to be backing then at shortish prices, until I have seen a little form.

5.5 points Wigan +1/2 ball 1.90 asian line.

CHAMPIONSHIP
NORWICH - BLACKPOOL

The visitors were pretty poor at Macclesfield in midweek and will be without three players today. Norwich were not much better in their Carling Cup loss to MK Dons, but are at least creating plenty of chances. They have had 30 attempts on goal and enjoyed the lions share of possession in their two starts to date and are due, a little more good fortune in front of goal. Glenn Roeder has used his contacts to significantly strengthen the home squad, with a number of loanees from big clubs and this is the type of fixture they should be winning, if it is not going to be another long season of struggle. Blackpool did well to survive last season and if anything, look weaker this time round, having sold two of their best players and lacking the funds to replace them.

5.5 points Norwich -1/2 ball 2.0 asian line.

DIVISION 2
LINCOLN CITY- DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE

You are aware that I was keen on City in my preview of Division 2, they opened with a loss in the league, but took Championship side Derby to extra time in midweek and if that has not taken too much out of them, they should be capable of kick starting their season today. D&R knocked six past inept Chester last week and performed bravely at home to reading in the cup, only losing to a late winner, but they are a small club, with limited resources and have to look outside the league for any signings. These players are hungry of course, but lack the quality that Peter Jackson has at his disposal, Frank Sinclair should make his debut today and oversee a City win.

5.5 points Lincoln -1/2 ball 2.07 asian line.

Good Luck.

WRITTEN YESTERDAY .......... full details on how to receive the newsletter on a daily basis and get the best of the odds , can be found on the website www.predictuwin.com

SATURDAY PLANS ........

The Premiership has arrived ! After what seems quite a long break, even Euro 2008 is a distant memory, the most watched league in the world returns. It will have to take something of a back seat domestically today though, with Team GB collecting a bunch of medals in Beijing, had to get that in !

I have previewed five matches on the email service and am planning to post one or two of them on the blog later today. Please check back.

CYCLING MOVES INDOORS .............

I am not putting this up as a selection, the odds are a little low, but the word in Beijing, is that British cyclist Bradley Wiggins have put stunning everyone in training. He already has three medals from Athens and has been talking as though anything less than three golds this time, would be a disappointment.

He gets underway in a couple of hours in the Individual Pursuit and was just interviewed on the BBC, where asked about the times he had been setting, which had been described as "jaw dropping", he just smiled and said "yes, they have been".

The price will not make you rich, but you have a world class athlete, hungry for success, in the peak form of his life.

Back Later.

THE BEAUTIFUL GAME ......

WOMEN'S OLYMPIC FOOTBALL

BRAZIL - NORWAY

Early start tomorrow in China. I think it is time for Brazil to step forward and take a big title, Marta and Cristiane are arguably the two best players in the world and at 22 and 23 respectively, should be nearing their peak. They were unlucky to only take silver at the World Cup and winners Germany, look to have regressed. I feel the conditions suit them better and expect Norway, who are a very big side and might labour in what is forecast to be humid , sticky weather, to be seen off with the minimum of fuss. Cristiane showed her well being with a hat-trick in the last group game and that would doubtless have got Marta's competitive juices flowing. I think they will win tomorrow and go on to take the title.

MLS .............

CD CHIVAS - LA GALAXY

Going to give LA another chance, these two play at the same stadium, so no homefield advantage. Galaxy have a new coach after the departure of Ruud Gullit and General manager Alexi Lalas, has also left, so a big shake up at the club. Former star Cobi Jones has taken over and has had three days with the players, in the build up to this game. He will be looking to snap a seven game streak without a win and when asked about his expectations for tonight said:

"Realistically, I hope a victory," said Jones. "I think this team has the talent, the experience and the will to win. It's going to be about having the desire and drive. I think that's something people have said in the past -- we're missing that fire out on the pitch. Hopefully they'll be ready to go this Thursday."

Chivas are also struggling and have not posted a league win for over five weeks. Both sides are without a number of players, but Chivas, has fewer resources and are down to just 18 fit players at the club. None of the "stars" are missing for LA and they should collect the points in a series they do very well in. They have already beaten Chivas 5-2 this season, drawing the other meeting and will look for the win to boost their playoff hopes, they are currently ranked 9th, with just eight teams making the post season. I am going with the new coach factor to kick start their season.

OLYMPIC HIGHLIGHTS .......

Highlight of the Olympics for me so far, has been the unbridled joy shown by the British medal winners in the swimming and cycling. My goodness, these girls are still smiling three days later, obviously I only really get to see the extended interviews with the competitors from my country, but I am sure the same is true, wherever you, or they, are from. It is a far cry from the cynical attitude we see from far too many of our sportsmen and certainly a few Premiership footballers could at least appreciate, that they are "living the dream".

Many of these spoilt superstars earn more in a month, than many dedicated athletes at the games will earn in a decade and couldn't produce, even a grin, if their life depended upon it !

I was a bit cynical in the build up to the games and some of the antics at the opening ceremony, were a bit too much, but after just a few days, we have seen the true spirit of the games, to say nothing of the beach volleyball and putting all political arguments to one side, sport is clearly the winner and my daughter is already pestering me about tickets for 2012 !

Good Luck.

A QUICK LOOK AT THE CARLING CUP ...........

There are a lot of games today, but quality is in short supply and in the English and Scottish domestic cups, it is more about attitude and application, than line ups, especially when it comes to the "bigger" clubs.

There has been torrential rain in the North West of England and that will be a great leveller. The games at Shrewsbury and Bury in particular, could easily go the way of the home teams, who started with positive results at the weekend. Chester host Leeds and the hosts will still be having nightmares about their totally inept performance in the 6-0 hammering at Dagenham over the weekend, that is not how you want to start the season ! The rain has been particularly bad in the Chester area, I just spoke to someone who lives nearby and that might help them, they will be happy to keep a clean sheet for as long as possible and United will be happy to win with the minimum of effort. Clubs usually put in a battling display after a thumping and it might take the visitors a while to get going. I am going to start with a small interest on the double result market.

3 points Draw Half Time- Leeds Full Time circa 4.50 general quote.

DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE - READING

D&R will be cock-a-hoop after knocking six past Chester at the weekend, but believe me, that said more about how bad their opponents were, than anything else. Steve Coppell's men opened with a 0-0 draw at Forest, who packed the midfield and effectively stifled the visitors. As always, Coppell will rotate his squad, but still has a lot of talent at his disposal and his players can expect a lot more space this evening. Reading had a fine pre season, including outplaying Villa last week, when Brad Friedel and the woodwork, saved the Premiership side from a bit of a beating. I expect them to win tonight, remember, there could easily have been four divisions between these two sides, but for a win or two last season.

..... AND A LITTLE FURTHER NORTH .......

NORWAY
STROMSGODSET - BRANN

Last but not least, I have to oppose Brann, who are not playing well and have beaten only basement club Ham-Kam in their last four league starts. They have just returned from a tough trip to Latvia, where they struggled to beat ten man Ventspils in the Champions League, only going through on the away goal rule. This has given them a home first leg with Marseille next week and the chance for a place in the group stage of europe's premier club competition, plus all the riches that brings, surely they will have to take things easy today. Hosts are battling to avoid the drop and are fighting for every point, home win.

5.5 points Stromsgodset -1/4 ball 2.06 asian line.

Good Luck.

HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLVES ...........

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE - WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS

Argyle look set for a long season of struggle, they have sold all their stars and replaced them with lower league players of potential, they have a decent manager, but I am sorry, the quality looks to be missing. Even last season , when they finished tenth, Argyle struggled against the top sides, winning just one of eleven home games, verses top half teams.Wolves have done some excellent business in the summer and took Sam Vokes fron Bournemouth, with several bigger clubs ready to pounce. He, along with Keough, Kightly, Iwelumo and Sylvan Ebanks- Blake, who is returning to his former club, give them unlimited options going forward and this is a side almost certain to be play-off bound at the very least. Ebanks-Blake will score a lot of goals this season and at 18-1 to be top scorer in the Championship ,could give you a run for your money. The match last season ended 1-1, with the visitors having 22 attempts at goal, Argyle are much weaker now, Wolves stronger. With almost 3,000 fans making the very long trip to the west country, I expect them to go home happy.

MASSIVE FEW DAYS AHEAD OF US.............

The excitement is really building now, in addition to the start of the english domestic season, we are already well into the football tournament's at the Olympics, despite the opening ceremony not taking place until tomorrow !

I have just sent today's email out, which included just a single, albeit confident selection for today and a big 7 point early bet for tommorow. The weekend is going to be incredibly busy and already it looks like I will be previewing six matches on saturday alone. This is normally a good weekend for me, touch wood, when I feel that, at this stage of the season, I have a better grasp on where most of the teams are, than the bookmakers.

No blog selections today, it would not be fair to subscribers to put my sole preview online. However, I am sure that it will be possible to post 2-3 previews over the weekend, so please check back.

Remember, the only way to receive all my output is by subscribing to the daily newsletter, yes , it is a pain to have to pay for it, but very little in life is free and with "offers" bringing the cost down to as little as $2 per day, it is not exactly expensive for the service it provides. Details can be found on the website www.predictuwin.com , you can send me an email via the "contact us" tab on the site, with any questions.

Good Luck.

ONLY ONE SELECTION TODAY ..............

I only sent subscribers one selection today, with two bets and Sibir have already obliged, winning 1-0. Surprisingly, Zenit were gambled on and Sibir actually drifted to 2.06 and 3.95 respectively, for the two bets.

RUSSIAN CUP

SIBIR NOVOSIBIRSK - ZENIT ST PETERSBURG

Regular readers will know that I am a big fan of Zenit, we were with them at circa 20.0 to win the UEFA Cup last year and I feel that they will go well in the Champions League, providing they are not big sellers in the next couple of weeks. They started their domestic season very slowly, but have bit by bit , got going again and now lie just 8 points off the top, with a game in hand. At the weekend, they travel to league leaders Rubin, in what is obviously a vital game.

Later this month they have the Supercup match with Manchester United and the CL groups will still be upon us, under the circumstances, they need the domestic cup and this game in particular, like another hole in the head ! Novosibirsk is the third biggest city in Russia, but is actually in Siberia and some 3,000km + from St Petersburg. I cannot believe they (Zenit) want any more fixture congestion and would be surprised if they progress today.

This will not be easy in any case, Sibir are a Division 1 side, but were close to promotion last season and are very tough to beat at home, as you might imagine. They have lost just 3 from 33 in the league, over the last season and a half and conceded far less than a goal per game. They will obviously be "up" for today and look vastly overpriced.

7 points Sibir +1/2 ball 1.91 asian line.

1.5 points Sibir to win 3.60 general quote.

Good Luck.

TONIGHT'S FOOTBALL ........... STICKING WITH DYNAMO

NORTH AMERICAN SUPERLIGA FINAL
NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION - HOUSTON DYNAMO

This is the third big final between the two best sides in US football, in the last two years and I fully expect Houston to claim the hat-trick, having prevailed in the last two MLS Championship games.

Both sides are missing players tonight, Dynamo are without Patrick Ianni and Stuart Holden, who are at the Olympics, Steve Nicol's Revolution are minus Michael Parkhurst and Jay Heaps, two very key defenders who are going to be sorely missed.

New England have already done the league double over Houston, but the circumstances are very different now, Dynamo are in fantastic form losing just two of their last 14, one was a match in this competion that they did not need to win, the other was one of the NE losses when they were missing six starters. Despite the absences, they created far more chances than NE (15-7), but had no luck at all, with a stronger squad, better form and the defensive problems for the home side, plus the stronger record in big finals, I have to firmly side with the visitors.

6 points Houston +1/4 ball 1.92 asian line. PICK IS OF COURSE +1/4 , SORRY, NOT WITH IT TODAY !

Good Luck.

TUESDAY NEWS .....

Interesting day today and I have previewed three matches on the email, I will definitely post one of these on the blog later in the day, so please check back.

The summer has been very profitable, but it is hard not to get excited by the new season. The real business gets underway this weekend, but for now, we can all dream of success for our team, before reality takes a hand.

I have been a Brentford fan all my life and believe me, there has not been too much to cheer about, but family moments aside, the day's that are forever etched on my mind, almost all involve the Bees. A couple of matches from the 1991-92 promotion season , still send a shiver down my spine and the thrill of excitement walking into Griffin Park "The Theatre of Nightmares", will never diminish (until the new stadium is built) . Welcome to the new season !

WHAT A MORNING !

I have just put the finishing touches to my preview of the new english football season and have taken a look at the top five leagues, with selections in each. I have included a ten point bet, which is huge for me and and also selections at odds of 21.0 , 19.0 and 13.0.

It runs to some 2,000 words and I am pleased with my work, which I do not say lightly. Goodness knows how many hours I have spent on this , obviously the work has other benefits too, but it definitely took 6-7 hours today to collate my notes and type the blooming thing !

Last year's preview, you can see the details on this link, produced huge profits and hopefully, we can have similar success this season. It will only be sent to subscribers and none of it will be reproduced on the blog. Anyone taking out a subscription to the email service, in the coming weeks will automatically be sent a free copy. Remember, we will be switching to a three month minimum subscription from August 16th, after that time, it will not be so easy to make any "offers". I am keen to get as many of you on board as possible and if you want to sent me an email via the "contact us" button on the website, here is a quick link, I will send details of my best possible deal to get you signed up and also to receive a copy of the ante post preview.

Good Luck.

SUNDAY MORNING UPDATE ...

Dunfermline lost to a very late strike yesterday, this was against the run of play, as my selection had dominated most of the second and hit the woodwork twice, the second immediately before Thistle struck their winner, a long range effort, from outside the box.

The pain was eased somewhat, by Djokovic's win over Rafa and the five goals that Brentford ran in at Woking, cannot remember the last time that I typed the words, five goals and Brentford in the same sentence, without tears streaming down my cheeks, so had to get that in.

I have previewed four matches on the email service today and we have booked another winning week for subscribers, regardless of what happens to these selections, so you can see, that it has been another very strong 7 days and our 13th winning week from the last 16, during which we have recorded fantastic returns.

Good Luck with your bets today.

FOOTBALL.......

SCOTLAND
DIVISION 1

PARTICK THISTLE - DUNFERMLINE

Hosts are very goal shy and really need another striker, they will be further hindered in this department today, by the missing Liam Buchanan, top scorer last season and generally considered their star player. Dunfermline have addressed similar concerns with the signing of Andy Kirk this week and he goes straight into the side. The Pars are hoping to trouble the favourites in this league and will be looking for a flying start, after being slow from "the traps" last August, which, all but put paid to their challenge. They could do little more than ease to a three goal cup win over Stirling last week and will take heart and confidence from that, Kirk will ensure competion for starting places, away win.

ATP MASTERS TENNIS ... CINCINNATI

RAFAEL NADAL - NOVAK DJOKOVIC

Rafa leads the series 9-3, but the Serbian has a 3-1 advantage on hardcourts, winning the last three, including at Indian Wells this year, without dropping a set. This is played on a Decoturf court, which is said to be the fastest of all the Masters surfaces and it is worthwhile remembering, that Nadal had a losing record in this event, coming into the tournament. Of course, he is playing on another level this year, but this is Djokovic's best surface and it is arguably, Nadal's third best. At the back of Djokovic's mind must be the thought that, if he cannot at least push, the player who will shortly be the world number one, on his favourite surface, where does he go from here. I think that this will be close and see value in backing Novak at a big looking 3.0, at least for minimal stakes.

3.5 points Djokovic to beat Nadal 3.0 Exchanges.

IVO KARLOVIC - ANDY MURRAY

Obviously Karlovic will be suited by the conditions and his defeat of Federer will have done wonders for his confidence. Having said that, the young British player, has winning records over most big servers, Roddick (4-3), Tursunov (5-0 including this week) and indeed today's opponent (2-0). This is hardly surprising, as he has a great defensive game, can feed off their speed and is tactically astute, he is "up there" with the very best in this department. I do feel that he will progress today, but have no use for his odds of sub 1.50. The two previous meetings both went the distance, with four of the six sets going to tie breakers. I am going to take the over, which could even be covered by two tb's and a small bet on Murray to win in three.

3.5 points over 25 games 2.05 Pinnacle Sports.
1.5 points Murray to win 2-1 sets 4.0 Hills/Bet 365 ...... similar or higher should be available later in the day on the exchanges.

FRIDAY .......

Big weekend for Rafael Nadal, following Roger Federer's loss to Ivo Karlovic last night, the Spanish superstar, can officially claim the world number one crown, with a win in the Cincinnati Masters. Whether or not it happens this week, it is only a matter of time. What a year it has been for Spain !

It was made clear weeks ago, that I expected to have a very good summer and the email service has really delivered over recent weeks. I looked at three matches in the newsletter yesterday, gave two bets, both of which won and left the third up to subscribers, having given strong indication that the favourite could be opposed in that game (they lost 2-0).

So, another two winners, that's five from five in the last two days and 7 from 9 this week, we look to be heading for another winning week, which would make 13 from 16 ! Think about that for a moment, in just shy of four months , the email service has made a loss (minimal) in just three weeks !

I have had contact from two readers of the blog recently and their basic argument, was that they bet everyday and are losing, but cannot afford to join the email service. That just doesn't make sense to me. To receive the newsletter everyday costs as little as $3, anyone taking advantage of the many offers that I have made, has paid around $2, that is not a lot of money if you are gambling and many people pay more for a quality weekend newspaper.

If you are gambling, you cannot have too much information and most, if not all, you have to pay for in some way, whether it is a service like mine, or newspapers/magazines, phone calls to friends or contacts, or simply with your time, how much do you think studying online for a couple of hours actally costs you ?

The email service is now closing in on 500 points profit since late September, every single one of those emails is archived on the website, in addition to the winners given and profit generated, there is a lot of additional information and pointers that will lead you to future winners.

For example, recently, I wrote about a team in the Championship who are far ahead of their rivals in terms of fitness and are expected to make a flying start this season. They have already won a couple of friendlies at very nice odds. Yesterday, I wrote the following .....

Let me start with a few words about the Llanelli- Bristol Rovers game, which might be priced up very late in the day, by the asian bookmakers. Llanelli are a little ahead of schedule this year, having already played in Europe and this is their "big" pre season game. Rovers sent their first team up to play Rotherham last night which involved a six hour round trip and they also picked up a couple of injuries. None of those players are likley to take part and it should be very much a "b " side that plays and Paul Trollope will not want any to collect any more injuries, this close to the new season. Llanelli won 2-0

Remember, that was not a selection, so not included in any totals, but surely worth knowing !

I am still working on today's email, but will probably have three selections, it will not be possible to put any of these on the blog, so there is no need to check back today. Tomorrow, I will probably have a blog selection, or maybe even two.

Finally, several of you have asked about my long term selections for the english domestic leagues, where we had such phenomenal success last season, these will be released in the early part of next week, but will only be for subscribers, they will not be posted on the blog.

Ok, I will end the sales pitch there, if you don't get it, then you just don't get it !

Good luck with your bets today.
