NFL ....... ST LOUIS RAMS @ NEW YORK JETS

This will have to be very brief as I have a subscriber deadline to keep.

The AFC East is very open with the Patriots, Jets and Bills all tied on 5-3 and the Dolphins just behind on 4-4. With New England and Buffalo meeting tonight, the other two contenders have a real opportunity to ease ahead of the loser in that game.

I did consider the resurgent Dolphins led by their first year coach, the fantastically named Tony Sparano, a headline writer's dream. But feel that they might struggle to cover a big spread against a Seattle team with a couple of key players set to return.

That leaves us with the Jets, who also have to give up a big handicap start hosting the Rams, but I am much more confident about their ability to do so. New York Quarterback Brett Favre is still on a learning curve with his offense, but every week, they are a little more in sync. The big money spent in the off season is starting to pay dividends and they held Buffalo to just 30 yards on the ground last week, sacking Trent Edwards five times. They have kept the opposition to an average of under 80 yards rushing this season and with St Louis without running back Steven Jackson and facing doubts about his replacements, they will struggle with the run, which limits their variety on offense.

The Rams six losses this season have come come by an average of 22 points with five by double digit margins, therfore, it is hard to oppose the hungry Jets with this line, which has them giving up just nine points.

6 points New York Jets -9 points 1.91 general quote.

I might be back later with one more football bet.

Good Luck.
