OK, it was nice to bounce back yesterday with Manchester City and Egypt both winning, although, not for the first time this season, City put in a very lack lustre display, the opening 30 minutes were dire and the subdued crowd did not help much and made for an eerie atmosphere inside the stadium.
Having said that, City are in pole position to claim the fourth Champions League spot, sitting a point behind Tottenham with two games in hand. Next three fixtures for them are Hull, Bolton and Stoke, before hosting Liverpool at the end of the month in a match that could go a long way towards deciding who will claim the coveted place.
Maybe both will, things certainly do not get any easier for the Gunners in the next couple of weeks, with their next three starts coming against Chelsea, Liverpool and then a trip to Porto in the Champions League. After that Arsenal have a very "easy" run of fixtures, with six of their next seven coming against teams in the bottom nine of the EPL.
Just fours hours remain of the transfer window and there looks set to be a lot of panic buying/ loaning going on as the deadline nears. It will take a little time to digest all the comings and goings, but will be worthwhile ahead of another busy midweek domestic football programme.
Wayne Rooney is in the form of his life at the moment, capable of winning games almost single handedly and is doing something sensational every start, most England fans would like to suspend time, wrap him up in cotton wool and produce him playing at this level on June 12, the other ten players have another four and a half months to get themselves in shape.
